BILLY ARMSTRONG'S BASKETBALL CAREER

Billy Armstrong is a graduate of Bergen Catholic H.S. (94), where he led the Crusaders to league, county and state titles in his senior year. He earned All-League honors and All-County honors in 1994 and was selected for The Bergen Record's 1990s All-Decade Team. He received a Division I scholarship to Davidson College, and won the Southern Conference with the Wildcats during his senior year. The triumph led to the 1998 NCAA tournament.

After college, Billy went on to play professional basketball in Europe for six years. He has also played for the Pennsylvania Valley Dawgs with the USBL and the Newark Express with the ABA. Playing professional basketball is a dream come true for this NJ native who is recognized as an outstanding athlete of the 1990’s in Bergen County. With hard work and dedication, he has designed programs to provide individualized attention to the precise and efficient execution of basic skills and fundamentals of the game.

About 10 years ago, Billy established Hoop Dreamz, which is dedicated to mentoring, training and assisting others to enhance their basketball skills, helping them to become the best they can be. He uses his expertise to teach and motivate young players with positive messages that apply to achieving success both on and off the court.

Billy was given the opportunity to return to his Alma Mater, Bergen Catholic, as the Junior Varsity Basketball Coach, and over three seasons (2008-2010) achieved an impressive combined record of 60-7, which includes a County Tournament Championship. In May 2011, he was officially named the Varsity Basketball Coach at Bergen Catholic H.S.

Billy inspires his players and instills the same values, principles and life lessons that were imparted in him as a Crusader. Coaching at Bergen Catholic has been a rewarding experience for Billy and he is truly grateful for the opportunity to have a positive impact on the lives of young athletes today, and the stars of tomorrow.

"I believe that coaching may be the most rewarding job on earth. Perhaps the most important, next to being a parent."
